Allison's background balances science with art and poetry and blends analysis with creativity. Allison feels strongly about the importance of emotion and memory when it comes to the desired impact of images and written communications. Her work has the capacity to leave a lasting impression on readers and viewers, touching them at a level of emotional resonance that promotes reflection, action and transformation.
She specializes in the structure of messaging and communications: web design and information architecture, website content / copy, SEO, copy editing and proofreading, copywriting and feature writing, academic research and writing, and blogging.
Allison has worked for Eclectic Horseman Communications, the Boulder County Horse Association, EcoArts, Kreative Keystrokes, Inc., and Customer Paradigm. Her photography has won numerous awards and garnered praise from those who have been the subjects of her work. She has photographed for weddings, graduation portraits, and horses and their humans. As an undergraduate, Allison wrote about health and wellness for the Montana State University student paper, The Exponent, and was also part of a research team that looked at cross-cultural issues in family medicine practice. With a minor in Biology, Allison has strong interests in ecological issues and especially, Deep Ecology.
As a Religious Studies scholar, she has written about religion and nature in a myriad of topics: Deep Ecology, Indigenous traditions, mystics and tears, animal ethics, companion species, the wilderness experience and the aspects of "lived religions." Her masters thesis looks at the horse and rider as a synergetic event, including the sensory and emotional depths in the horse and rider relationship, and the importance of other ways of knowing.
