Why blogging is good for you.
To Blog or not to blog…
- Blogging creates an enormous benefit for your site and can increase your visibility if done strategically.
- Blogging allows you to utilize keywords and phrases that you hope your demographic is using to find you.
- Once people find you, your blog is a great way for people to get a sample of what you’re about, for you to try out new ideas, and for you to inspire people who visit your site – consider it non-pushy self-advertising.
- If your visitors turn into dedicated readers, you gain in readership and establish a sort of ‘fan club.’ Many of these readers will be voracious for more content… because they just can’t get enough of you.
- By constantly changing your content, not only do you draw your audience to your site more frequently to get your latest and greatest bits of perennial wisdom, but you also entice the crawly web-spiders that index your pages.
- If you have the opportunity for people to leave comments on your posts, this also helps create a buzz around your blog and allows for you to comment on the comments, and in a sense, be in dialogue with your online constituents.
- Blogs are a great way to update your readers about what’s going on with you, what you’re dealing with, lessons you’ve learned, holiday news, site updates, etc. Using this space (at times) for announcements makes it similar to an online newsletter. I.e. “You can see me at this trade show coming up. It will be great… blah blah blah. Hope to see you there!”
- If you blog is totally groovy, everyone will tell everyone about it, and you’ll reap the benefits of a blog well-done.
How are you benefitting from your blog...
Why are you blogging?
- What do you use your blog for?
- What Categories / topics are discussed?
- What industries / niches are you targeting?
- Do you have a Keywords list?
- Who’s your readership/demographic?
- What’s your shtick in 2-3 sentences?
- What are some of your competitor’s blogs?
Who’s got time to blog!!?
