Inspiritus
like the weather, acrylic on canvas, 7.5'x4'
Nothing drives our imagination more wild than the blank page or a fresh canvas here at the studio of all things Auspicious, where we believe the soul speaks solely in image (but occasionally through Owl Post). Lately, we've been riddling over just how closely art, life and god are intertwined.
"What art offers is space, a certain breathing room for the spirit," John Updike once said, and t'was the season for spirit and me to have a little heart to heart. Inspired by Icelandic music, illusions, and my place in space at the time, I set out to the studio late one hot summer night with my brushes, my love of bold colors and a burning desire to artify.
As my breath flowed in and out with each brush stroke, it traced the texture of my heart, and I felt that cavernous landscape as the paint moved across the canvas, guided by the energy of that inner sanctum and a bit by gravity. At the time, I felt as though I was in the cosmic waiting line, reflecting on the past, contemplating the future, getting acquainted with the cloud of unknowing - and finding interesting things.
I read somewhere that "life is like an abstract painting in that you never know where you're going to end up." It is at once maddening and fascinating, this living thing, but I've learned to trust the process, to dwell in the possibility of the spontaneous present.
There is a richness and depth to each moment I embody - as with each breath, I am inspired, Inspiritus, 'in spirit.' It's always there, in tune with the rhythm of my heart, my truest guide.
The Love.Life.Art.Work. gallery has new works of art on display. To inquire about pieces that tug at your heart strings, send me a love note. Or, I will make one just for you.
